About Candace Croasdale

Candace Croasdale is a fiction writer who tends toward the Gothic and speculative. She has recently released Within the Walls of Memory, a Gothic horror story following an acespec autistic woman whose intense object personification leads to an obsession with the abandoned 19th-century house at the top of her small mountain town.

A devotee of most things Gothic, Candace is also preparing to release the first two novels in her Candlelit Window series: Château of Shattered Dreams and Bride of Cherry Grove Chapel. The volumes in this series are lovingly written in homage to vintage-style Gothic romance novels (think ACE, Queen-Size Gothic, etc.). These are good, pulpy paperbacks filled with tropes like a young ingénue finding herself in a moldering old house or marrying someone she barely knows. As someone who was the ideal age for the Goosebumps series when it first released, Candace appreciates the delight that can come from a dramatic title, intriguing cover art, and an old-fashioned spooky story.

The belief that motivates her writing can be summarized by her adaptation of a shitpost from Tumblr user personable:

"The love within me is greater than anything that fear can make. You cannot kill me in a way that matters."
